Low Voltage Technician Apprentice Program

SIGNET’s Registered Apprentice Program received approval from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1993 and is a unique opportunity for individuals to become skilled as low voltage technicians, learning on the job under the supervision of a journeyperson. Participants who have complete the program can gain employment in high-growth areas, including:

  • Electronic Security
  • Commercial A/V
  • Critical infrastructure/communications
  • Systems integration

Program Details

Four-year program, including 8000 hours of field experience and 600 hours of related schooling (cost of schooling is split equally between apprentice and SIGNET)Apprentices are trained to install, maintain and service healthcare, audio, data, video, security and fire alarm systems
Apprentices are paid a percentage of prevailing wage on certified rate jobs, depending on the Step level in the Apprentice Program
Apprentices step to the next level after every 1000 hours of field experience (approximately every 6 months)
Upon program completion, Apprentice field and school hours satisfy the requirements for the MA Class-D System Technician License exam

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Some previous construction experience (residential, commercial, home improvement, vocational training)

Previous cabling experience is preferred
